The power of improvisation

Next training 20 June 2019

Laugh and learn the conditions for thinking outside of the box and dealing with change.

In this training we work with exercises from Applied Improvisation. In a fun way, these exercises strengthen your flexibility muscle.

As a professional you need to be able to adapt to changes quickly, today even more than in previous times. Especially scientifically educated people approach problems and challenges in a structured manner on a cognitive level, which is of course appropriate in many situations. But it is as important to be able to break your thinking patterns and think outside of the box.
What if you approached a new concept with “yes, and …” instead of with “yes, but …”? Applied Improvisation teaches to welcome loss of control, accept situations as they come up and failure. Embrace what you get and build from there is the key message.

We work with the three pillars of Applied Improvisation:

1: be in the present;

2: accept whatever you face;

3: take risks and have the courage to fail.

Method

We work with play-acting from improvisation theatre. In a fun way, these games show just what you can achieve through improvising, and how to identify the most important learning points for you personally.

We draw as far as we can on examples from your own practice, keeping links with your work as strong as possible.

This workshop is in a small group, to give all participants the chance to practice and to create a safe environment: a good moment to start daring to fail.
